Task achieving is my speciality

"You need help to set up employee records? No problem! When are you free?"

"You require assistance putting together a trade stand and help on the actual stand? I will get on it straight away."

"You called to ask if I could sort out your office filing system. When is it convenient to pop round?"

"You want to see if there are grants available for your new diversification project. I've done numerous applications before, tell me more about your idea."

Julie is ready and waiting to perform tasks that you never get around to doing -my speciality! I can work on or off site and will pick up your business systems and routines surprisingly quickly - think of me as one of your team. I can help small businesses in many ways - maybe you need someone to stand in for the the day, for example processing orders, selling at trade shows, chasing invoices or even running a recruitment drive. Above all I aim to build a solid relationship and assist you with any of the important tasks that need efficient help or advice.

"As well as providing business advice, I have many contacts with various skills which means I can assist with some of daunting jobs the small business owner never seems to get time to tackle - jobs which are essential for growth and success."

Where do I operate?

At present I cover the Ribble Valley, Pendle, Hydburn, Lancaster, Blackburn with Darwen, Fylde and Craven areas.  Over the years I have worked with many of these councils to support small business projects.

Why?

"I think it's become clear that the Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) are now mainly preoccupied with quick results from large redevelopment projects in run-down urban areas, meaning very little assistance is now given to smaller rural businesses.  This was shown to be the case with the closure of the Lancashire Rural Futures scheme, where I was recently employed as a Business Advisor. There is now a worrying lack of help for the small business owner at grass roots level, and a lack of practical help in achieving targets which may have been agreed with Government business brokers. TACBS is happy to offer the many much-needed but missing services to your business, and I look forward to getting to know you and being part of the team.

Julie immediately got stuck into the future business development and funding with the same level of enthusiasm as ourselves.  Julie guided us through endless reams of paperwork.  She has continued to email or telephone us with business ideas or contacts that she thinks of...her commitment to our project has been nothing more than outstanding, she has taken the commitment and discipline gained from her previous careers and processes schemes in a logical and instinctive way.

Julie has been very approachable and positive in all respects, delivering professional and enterprising ideas for the new accomodation project.  She ensured we gathered the right information in bite sized chuncks, spoke to the right people in order to raise our profile and gain support we needed for the future success of the business.  We were impressed with Julie's common sense approach and enthusiasm.

Julie listened to our thoughts, encouraged us and brought in specialists within the food industry to discuss the layout of our new meat processing plant and how to manage our expectations and that of our customers, as well as renewable energy ideas. We are now building the new plant, she maintains regular contact which resulted in one of our chefs taking part in a French exchange trip of locally produced produts.

Having discussed our ideas with Julie, we visited the marina which she quickly grasped the potential of the project.  Within hours she was on the phone to Pendle Borough Council and British Waterways discussing the possibilities of assistance and funding. She suggested we break down the whole project into phases which would benefit from the amount of grants available over time.  She researched the market, drew up grant applications and talked about further support for websites and marketing.  A small problem arose with planning but Julie was quickly on the case.  We received planning approval and two grant, one ended up being for twice the amount we requested as the application stacked up so well.  She is both professional in her approach and has the ability to look outside the box for ideas and solutions for small rural businesses.
